Size Matters – Starting Locs

Size matters when starting dreadlocks aka locs.  I don’t have locs but hubby has been growing his hair for over 10 years, trimming a few inches over the years.  I had no idea that size matters when it comes to locs but if you are starting out, a tip is to make sure your sections are not too small such that the locs will break off once they grow longer and heavier.

His locs are about 1/4 inch thick, the size of a number 2 pencil.   The base of each loc is about 3/4 inch and the locs form a 1/4 inch circle which seems small enough to look neat and large enough not to cause the locs to break off as they grow longer and heavier.

A special thanks to hubby for letting me play in his scalp.
