Mommy Wig – Janet Collection

After reading so many reviews and watching youtube videos on the Mommy Wig I finally bought one after about a year.  The packaging made the wig look like something a grandmother would wear so it really did take a long time for me to try this wig.  Not to mention, it is a short style and my whole goal in transitioning without the big chop was to keep my hair long.

I bought the human hair version at a local wig shop for $29.99 + tax.  I felt like I was channeling my inner Halle Berry with the short pixie cut.   For this human hair wig I used water to manipulate it and then added Dream Curls by John Frieda to spike it up a bit.   My natural hair color, as it grew out, looked to be 1B and the wig package says 1B but I bought the sample which was the only Mommy Wig left and in color 1.

Although all the reviews I saw said the wig had no combs, mine has 2 combs at the front (sides) and a comb in the back.  I think it’s a cute, sassy cut and I enjoy wearing it.

I noticed that with human hair versus synthetic hair, I can style the human hair wig much easier.  With synthetic hair, I am able to reset the curls with rods and hot water but with human hair I can simply use a holding product.
