Hair Styling Charged by Length

Hair Styling Charged by Length

My husband has long hair, I mean really long.  His dreadlocks aka locks are down to his waist. He has been growing them for about 10 years and he stopped cutting his hair a couple of years ago just to see how long it would get.

Prior to that time he was letting his stylist cut his hair about 2 inches each year.   The long length does not bother me at all and in the winter his hair keeps him much warmer than any scarf or hat would.

Something that I noticed was that the longer his hair grew, the more some stylist would charge to twist his roots for his touch ups.  At one point it was cheap, like $30 but then it went to $60, then $80 and most recently $125.  I know that longer hair means more time and more product (he takes his own product to the salon) and I have no problem with the expense.  It’s not something that he wants to do on his own and he does not want me to do his hair.  I have gone to salons at different times in my life with short hair and with long hair.  The price at some of the salon definitely went up at the times when my hair was longer (at or near bra strap) versus short (ear length).  I find it funny that men are charged, just like women, for having longer hair.
