Braid Out on transitioning hair – 87 weeks and 3 days post relaxer

Braid Out on transitioning hair  – 87 weeks and 3 days post relaxer

I tried my first braid out on my transitioning hair after watching a video on youtube showing rods used on the relaxed ends.

I washed my hair with WEN Fig and did a deep conditioning treatment with heat for 20 minutes with Capilo Sperm Whale deep conditioner (FYI – Sperm is a type of whale) followed by Silicon Mix for 15 minutes. My hair was a breeze to detangle although I did have a Brazilian Keratin Treatment in my hair. I then used Shea Moisture leave in on each section of my hair before braiding. Shea Moisture leave-in contains, inter alia, glycerin, water & jojoba oil.

Because I still had some relaxed ends, I used rods (covered) to give the ends some curl. The braid out came out pretty well, although it was very damp in the morning despite sitting under the dryer for 30 minutes the night before that braid take down. I dried a bit more in the morning once the braids were taken down.  All in all it was a cute style but not quite what I expected during my transition from relaxed to natural hair.  I pinned up my hair for the day.
