Apple Cider Vinegar Hair Rinse – Natural Hair Products

Can You Use Apple Cider Vinegar for Hair?

Using apple cider vinegar (ACV), yes the vinegar you find at the grocery store, is a great way to remove product build up.  Using an ACV rinse can also balance out the ph level of your hair and give you some shine since it seals the cuticle of the hair.  Sealed cuticles make the hair appear shiner.

Using vinegar basically removes build-up from the hair and closes the cuticle.   Since product residue and build up coats the hair and can cause your hair to look dry and dull, removing the build up with vinegar can give your hair shine.  An added benefit is closed cuticles means less tangles.

You can use ACV alone to remove build up or use it prior to a shampoo.  Some people do use a vinegar rinse after shampooing.  The next step after an after shampoo ACV rinse is to leave some of the vinegar rinse in your hair, which can reduce tangles, or you can rinse all of the vinegar out of your hair.

I have found, for my hair at least, that using a vinegar rinse too often can lead to dry hair.  If you choose to use vinegar rinses, you should experiment to see what works best for you.
